We have an exciting opportunity for a Field Service Engineer to join our team in Leicester.
As a Field Service Engineer, you will deliver a high-quality, customer-focused service by supporting the repair, maintenance and fitting of manual and powered wheelchairs in the community. Working in patients’ homes, schools and care settings, you will help ensure mobility equipment is safe, reliable and meets individual needs.
This role is ideal for someone with practical skills and a willingness to learn, combining hands-on technical tasks with excellent customer care to make a real difference to people’s independence and quality of life.

We have an exciting opportunity for a Field Service Engineer to join our team in Leicester.
As a Field Service Engineer, you will deliver a high-quality, customer-focused service by supporting the repair, maintenance and fitting of manual and powered wheelchairs in the community. Working in patients’ homes, schools and care settings, you will help ensure mobility equipment is safe, reliable and meets individual needs.
This role is ideal for someone with practical skills and a willingness to learn, combining hands-on technical tasks with excellent customer care to make a real difference to people’s independence and quality of life.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assess and diagnose faults on wheelchairs (both manual and powered) and undertake appropriate repairs, adjustments and fitting of wheelchair components/accessories in the patient’s home/community/school to ensure that the equipment is functional and safe for patient use under instruction from Senior Clinical/Technician colleagues.
- Carry out basic programming/diagnostics of powered wheelchairs.
- Load and unload equipment, checking equipment prior to fittings and monitoring van stock.
- Partake in the out of hours emergency repair service.
- Undake administration tasks to support the clinical and technical teams.
Skills and Experience:
Essential:
- Basic mechanical and electrical skills – ability to carry out simple repairs with simple tools, adjustments, and maintenance on wheelchairs (e.g., brakes, wheels, batteries).
- Problem-solving ability – identifying faults quickly and applying practical fixes in the field.
- Communication skills – interacting clearly and respectfully with service users, carers, and clinical staff.
- Organisation and time management – route planning, prioritising jobs, and completing tasks efficiently.
- A willingness to learn.
Desirable:
- Experience working with wheelchairs in a technical capacity.
Qualifications
No formal qualifications are required for this role; however ideal candidates will have a good standard of literacy and numeracy.
In addition, candidates must have:
- A full UK driving licence
- The ability to undertake an Enhanced Disclosure Barring Service (DBS) check
