About the role
We are looking for an Advanced Operations Lead Project Manager to drive the successful delivery of high-priority New Product Development (NPD) projects within our Ostomy Care business. In this role, you will lead Global Quality and Operations (GQO) activities across Convatec’s manufacturing network and third-party partners, playing a critical role in bringing new products to market. Acting as the key interface between R&D and Manufacturing, you will oversee project planning, execution, and delivery—ensuring alignment with agreed timelines, budgets, and quality standards.

You will be responsible for the end-to-end operational readiness of new product lines, including validation, ramp-up, and seamless transition into business-as-usual manufacturing. With a high level of autonomy, you will shape and implement effective processes that support successful product launches across the Ostomy Care portfolio. Working closely with project managers, engineers, and cross-functional teams across GQO, you will ensure strong coordination, clear reporting, and effective execution across multiple global projects.

Your key duties and responsibilities
  • Consistently project manage and deliver high priority, technically complex projects to ensure completion on time within agreed scope and budget
  • Core team leadership and overall responsibility for ensuring delivery of all Global Operations & Quality (GQO) activities for Ostomy Care NPD projects.
  • Project management and coordination of the wider Global Operations & Quality teams including Global automation engineering, Manufacturing site, Operations Finance, Manufacturing Quality, Sourcing, Supply Chain, Packaging and Labelling.
  • Stakeholder management throughout the project, establishing communication schedules and steering & escalation teams.
  • Evaluate and secure resources from wider Operations team to support project feasibility through to delivery.
  • Create detailed work plans for assigned projects which identify and sequence the GQO activities needed to successfully complete each project.
  • Develop a schedule for project completion that effectively allocates the resources to the activities.
  • Identification of risks/roadblocks/issues within projects. Problem solve / support / mitigate and escalate as appropriate.
  • Run risk review sessions and build mitigation plans with cross functional teams.
  • Ensure compliance to Design Control and Business processes, such as gate reviews and Design History File documentation requirements.
  • Creation of operational strategy documents including assessing manufacturing requirements.
  • Leading Make versus Buy manufacturing investigations.
  • Providing operational cost estimates to input into project business cases and drafting CAPEX/CAR documentation.
  • Compilation and presentation of Operational input for Business process Gate reviews.
  • Determine the objectives and measures (KPIs) upon which projects will be evaluated at completion.
  • Determine and facilitate operational activities required to complete project closure and ensure effective handover into Business as Usual.

Skills & Experience
  • 5-10 years of experience in project management in the medical device industry or similar.
  • Experience working with Business Process models e.g. Stage Gate Processes.
  • Experience with SCRUM based sprint planning is desirable.
  • An understanding of Medical Device Regulations and CFR, and experience with Design Control is preferred.
  • Strong analytical skills with proven experience in project planning and project management.
  • Must be a self-starter, with the ability to work independently and to deal with ambiguity.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with all levels of organization, up to executive management.
  • Proficient in financial acumen.

Qualifications/Education
  • University Degree (or equivalent) in an engineering or scientific discipline
  • A project management certification e.g. PMP, APM, Prince 2 or equivalent is preferred.

Travel Requirements
Position may involve travel up to 25% of the time, mostly within Europe but overseas travel is expected. Most trips will include overnight travel.

Working Conditions
Remote, however the role requires flexibility (as required) to visit and work with engineering vendors for machine development, and ConvaTec manufacturing sites for machine installation/validation and business meetings.
