Description

Company Overview
Every healthcare system in history has been a fundamental trade-off between quality and scale - our mission is to change that. We're building a new category of AI-native healthcare provider, using full-stack care automation to deliver world-class treatment at population scale. Our AI physiotherapy clinic is already democratising access to 24/7 healthcare for NHS patients across the UK, and we're just getting started.

Role: Senior/Staff System Test Engineer
Department: Engineering
Type: Full-time
Location: Cambridge (UK)

The Role
You'll be Flok's first dedicated test hire, and will take ownership of testing and product quality, for both our patient facing application and internal clinician tools. This is an individual contributor role (at least for the foreseeable future), but with scope for technical leadership in terms of setting testing strategy and direction.

What You'll Do
Your day-to-day work will be impactful and varied, including:
  • Designing and building automated tests (particularly e2e, scale and device-compatibility tests)
  • Performing manual testing (where it adds value)
  • Setting overall test strategy, prioritising test efforts, and writing clear QA plans
  • Managing the software release process and documenting releases for medical device regulatory compliance
  • Reviewing product requirements
  • Participating in bug triage/diagnosis and incident investigations
  • Configuring CI systems and maintaining test environments
  • Improving system observability to facilitate easier testing and debugging
  • Providing input into system design decisions with a focus on testability
  • Fixing some of the bugs you find (where appropriate)

You'll collaborate closely with the rest of the engineering team (who will continue to also write tests) and all Flok employees (who will continue to help QA the product internally), but you'll be the go-to expert dedicated to test strategy and quality ownership. You'll also help mature our engineering processes as we grow, mentor new team members, work directly with company leadership, and see the impact of your work on real patients.

About You
  • You have strong programming skills (ideally in Python / TypeScript)
  • You bring wide-ranging system/software test experience, including a breadth of different styles of testing, and with a focus on whole system testing and overall product quality
  • You're comfortable setting up CI systems and test environments
  • You enjoy working with design and product teams to help shape exceptional products
  • You care deeply about your users - championing great experience and access to quality clinical care
  • You take initiative and ownership of your work, and communicate clearly

Bonus Points
Whilst not required, experience in any of these areas will definitely stand out - let us know if you have any!
  • Software medical device development (or another regulated industry)
  • Testing iOS/Android apps and/or browser-based web apps
  • Working with video streaming and/or real-time technologies
  • Startup experience
  • Managing software release processes
  • Setting test strategy for your team/product/company

What We Offer
  • Challenging work at the frontier of AI-native healthcare
  • In-person collaborative culture in a beautiful work space in the Cambridgeshire countryside
  • An onsite gym and digital health subscription of your choice
  • Early stage equity with employee-friendly terms (via an EMI scheme)
  • Comprehensive medical coverage (including dental and optical) and life insurance
  • Optional remote working on Wednesdays, with an annual allowance of 10 extra remote days
  • Desk setup allowance for your favourite keyboard / mouse / whatever!
  • Monthly team feasts (and the BBQ is used most days)
  • A fast paced work environment geared towards excellence and professional growth (with annual training budget)
  • A chance to have a big impact in a small team transforming care and outcomes at population scale
