Description

We're looking for an experienced and commercially minded Financial Controller to join us on a 12 month maternity cover. We are a rapidly scaling business and the potential for a future permanent role for the right candidate is very possible.

This isn't a role for someone who simply wants to maintain the status quo. We're looking for an experienced hands-on finance leader who can help us become a 1st rate finance team through continuous learning, improvement, automation and systemisation. A leader that can help us scale from a local finance team to an efficient international finance function.

You will lead the Finance function, overseeing financial operations, controls, team leadership and business partnering while driving scalability and continuous improvement. You will also partner with FP&A on the monthly reporting cycle, cash flow management and budgeting & forecasting rounds. And you will partner with the business to enable continuous improvement and strategic decision-making.

As a fast-growing healthcare business, things move quickly here. We're looking for someone who enjoys pace, thrives on variety, and can bring structure, clarity, and commercial thinking to a constantly evolving environment.

What will you be doing?
  • Lead the day-to-day Finance function ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.
  • Manage and develop a growing Finance team including the Accounting Team, AP, AR & Payroll, providing support, coaching, and direction.
  • Support the development of a scalable finance operating model, including international expansion and strategic growth initiatives.
  • Maintain a robust financial control environment, overseeing risk management, tax compliance, statutory reporting and audit activities.
  • Own the month-end and year-end close processes, balance sheet integrity and working capital management, ensuring accurate reporting, effective controls and strong cash performance.
  • Oversee treasury activities including banking relationships, cash management, liquidity planning and payment controls.
  • Oversee VAT, PAYE and corporation tax compliance, coordinating with external advisers where required.
  • Develop and maintain financial policies, procedures and governance frameworks to support a strong internal control environment.
  • Lead finance transformation initiatives, including process improvement, automation, system optimisation and implementation projects to improve efficiency, scalability and controls.
  • Partner with senior stakeholders and FP&A to provide financial insight, performance analysis and decision support across the business.
  • Partner with FP&A on cash flow management and budgeting & forecasting rounds.
  • Act as a key point of contact for external auditors, accountants, banks, and other finance partners.

What do you need?
  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
  • 3+ years experience in a Financial Controller role.
  • Experience with inventory processes including purchase orders, prepaid orders, consignment stock, and cost of goods sold.
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge with experience producing management and statutory accounts.
  • Experience managing budgets, forecasts, and cash flow in a growing business.
  • Experience implementing systems and optimising the utilisation of systems.
  • Proven ability to partner with senior stakeholders and influence decision-making.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience scaling, managing and developing teams.
  • Excellent attention to detail alongside the ability to think strategically.
  • Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
  • Strong systems knowledge and advanced Excel skills.

NICE TO HAVE
  • Experience within healthcare, pharmacy, e-commerce, or regulated industries.
  • Experience working in a scale-up environment.
  • Experience using Xero, ApprovalMax, ExpenseIn, FloQast and similar systems.

What we offer:
  • Generous Leave: 25 days holiday (rising to 27 after year one and 30 after year three) + 8 bank holidays.
  • Pension Matching: Up to 5% employer matching contributions.
  • Flexibility and Wellness: Work-from-home options, cycle-to-work scheme, private healthcare and more.
  • Growth Opportunities: Collaborate across teams with support to grow your skills and impact on the business.
  • Enhanced Maternity & Paternity Leave.
