The Role
As the Senior Director, Facilities Engineering, you will be responsible for the strategic oversight and operational management of Orchard’s global facilities and engineering infrastructure. This leadership position ensures that all physical sites, including laboratories and corporate offices, meet the highest standards of safety, compliance, and operational efficiency to support our mission-critical research and manufacturing activities.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute a global facilities strategy aligned with the company’s long-term growth and operational goals.
• Oversee the design, construction, and commissioning of new facilities and major capital projects.
• Manage global engineering operations, ensuring maximum uptime and reliability of critical building systems and laboratory equipment.
• Lead environmental health and safety (EHS) initiatives to ensure a safe working environment and compliance with all local and international regulations.
• Direct the facilities budget, including capital expenditure (CapEx) and operational expenditure (OpEx) planning and tracking.
• Manage relationships with external vendors, contractors, and landlords across multiple international locations.
• Implement sustainable practices and energy-efficient solutions across the global real estate portfolio.

Requirements

• Extensive experience in facilities management and engineering leadership within the biotechnology or pharmaceutical industry.
• Proven track record of managing complex capital projects and global facility operations.
• Deep understanding of GxP environments, building codes, and EHS regulations.
• Strong financial acumen with experience managing multi-million pound budgets.
• Excellent leadership skills with the ability to manage cross-functional and geographically dispersed teams.
