About us:
Sonic Healthcare is an internationally renowned healthcare provider with a demonstrable track record of medical services across the world. Headquartered in Sydney, Australia, Sonic is an ASX Top 50 company that has grown to become one of the world’s leading healthcare providers, specialising in pathology, radiology and primary care medical centres. We have operations in Australia, the USA, Germany, Belgium, Switzerland, the United Kingdom, Ireland and New Zealand.
Sonic Healthcare UK encompasses the two main entities in the UK, The Doctors Laboratory (TDL) and Health Services Laboratories (HSL). HSL is a partnership between The Doctors Laboratory (TDL), Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust and University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (UCLH). HSL was formed to provide pathology services to the NHS Trusts and has expanded further to provide services to other NHS Trusts. Over 3,500 staff work at Sonic Healthcare UK, primarily under the TDL or HSL banner.
Our purpose is to deliver medically-led diagnostics, innovation, value and long-term investment to healthcare. With our core laboratory based at The Halo Building in London WC1H 9AX, we also have an expanding site in Manchester as well as smaller hospital-based laboratories across the country. We maintain rigorously high standards of quality, whilst also delivering efficiencies to healthcare through careful workforce planning, pioneering technology and significant investment in infrastructure and IT.
About the role:
We have an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and committed individual who is looking to take that next career step in leadership, and progress as the new Sample Reception Area Head of Department (SRA HOD) at Croxley Park Hub.
The Croxley Park Hub is a new HSL Hub laboratory that has been designed to provide a comprehensive pathology service for Hertfordshire and West Essex (HWE) GP, Community providers, and Hospitals. The Hub offers state of the art processes and analytics, of which the SRA HOD will play a critical role in development of specimen pathways for service delivery.
The successful candidate will join our team of dedicated management, lab support staff, and biomedical scientists in delivering a high-quality pathology service. We are looking for someone who is positive, proactive and attention to detail is essential. Previous experience within pre-analytics is essential to understand the complexities of specimen pathways and development of sustainable systems of delivery. The Hub when fully operational and following transition of all sites in the HWE Network, will process 14,000 samples per day and the ideal candidate will have line management experience preferably within a pathology discipline.
This post offers the opportunity to broaden your skills and experience in a busy pathology reception, providing a 24/7 Haematology, Biochemistry, and Infectious Sciences service. Working closely with the Blood Sciences, Infectious Sciences and Quality Management, to create a cohesive service, a high performing sample reception team, clear referral management, and efficient helpdesk for pathology queries.
A key role of the HOD is to meet the daily operational demands of the lab, the ability to work under pressure as workloads fluctuate, they will need excellent interpersonal skills, be highly organised and able to identify and delegate to keep operations running efficiently and effectively.
The Hub is not yet operational and as a new laboratory the ideal candidate will need to be adaptable to a changing environment, passionate in supporting teams transferring into a new setting, committed to service excellence and have a genuine desire for continued personal and professional development
At HSL we offer a variety of excellent staff benefits including:
