Aphasia Support provides free speech and language therapy to people affected by aphasia, a communication disorder often caused by stroke. Through one to one computer therapy, supported conversation and community Aphasia Café groups across Yorkshire, Lancashire and Nottingham, the charity helps people rebuild their ability to speak, read and write while reducing isolation.
Founded in 2011 by people with aphasia and their carers, Aphasia Support delivers tailored, long term support beyond clinical recovery. With trained volunteers and specialist therapists, it creates safe spaces where people regain confidence, form lasting friendships and communicate with independence.
