Hospiscare delivers specialist palliative care to people with terminal illnesses across Exeter, central and east Devon. The independent charity provides expert symptom control, emotional and spiritual support at home and in its specialist ward. Services include community nursing, rapid response care, outpatient clinics and therapies. Each year Hospiscare supports around 2,200 patients and families, tailoring care to needs.
With only 20% NHS funding, the charity raises £10 million annually through donations and shops. Over 500 volunteers enable free care rated outstanding by the Care Quality Commission. Founded in 1982, Hospiscare has grown from a two nurse service to a comprehensive provider covering over 1,000 square miles of Devon.
