LOROS is an independent hospice charity delivering free specialist palliative care to adults with terminal illnesses across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland. The hospice provides a 31 bed inpatient ward, day therapy, clinical nurse home visits, and multidisciplinary support including counselling, physiotherapy, lymphoedema treatment and bereavement services. Over 2,500 patients and families receive care each year. Founded in 1977 by the local community, LOROS requires over £9 million in voluntary income annually, with 90p of every pound going to patient care. The hospice employs 448 staff and is supported by 1,300 volunteers who contribute to clinical care, home visiting, fundraising and retail operations.
