Mountbatten Isle of Wight delivers specialist palliative care and bereavement support to the island's 150,000 residents. The care at home team supports over 2,000 people each day, while the 16 bed inpatient unit in Newport provides 24 hour expert nursing and medical care. Services support Islanders of all ages living with life limiting illnesses, dementia, old age and frailty. The hospice welcomes the community through its award winning Chelsea Garden, café, chapel, and events centre. Two thirds of funding comes from community fundraising and donations. Over 500 volunteers give more than 3,000 hours weekly, working alongside 415 staff to meet demand expected to rise by 40 per cent in coming years.
