Royal Papworth Hospital NHS Foundation Trust is the UK's largest specialist cardiothoracic hospital, treating more than 130,000 patients annually. It performs more heart, heart-lung and lung transplants than any other UK centre and operates the country's biggest Respiratory Support and Sleep Centre. The hospital is one of only five UK centres providing Extra Corporeal Membrane Oxygenation for critically ill patients. Based on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus since 2019, Royal Papworth serves patients across Cambridgeshire, the East of England and nationally with complex heart and lung conditions. It is rated outstanding by the Care Quality Commission across all five inspection domains, the first NHS trust to achieve this distinction.
