South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust looks after nearly half a million people across South Tyneside, Sunderland and beyond. The Trust runs eight main hospitals and sites, including Sunderland Royal Hospital, South Tyneside District Hospital and the new Sunderland Specialist Eye Hospital. More than 8,500 staff deliver care at home, in the community, in health centres and hospitals.
The Trust offers acute and community services, plus regional specialist services including ophthalmology, sexual health and rehabilitation. Staff work across emergency departments, inpatient wards, outpatient clinics, community teams and specialist units. Formed in 2019, it serves one of the most diverse populations in the North East.
