University Hospitals Dorset operates three hospitals serving more than 800,000 people across south east Dorset. The Royal Bournemouth Hospital provides major emergency care, Poole Hospital delivers planned procedures, and Christchurch Hospital offers rehabilitation and specialist services. Together, they employ more than 9,000 staff alongside specialist facilities including the Dorset Cancer Centre, a major trauma unit, and the Dorset Heart Centre. Formed in October 2020 through merging two established hospitals, the trust improves patient outcomes and reduces cancellations. It serves communities from Purbeck to the New Forest and South Wiltshire, providing care from routine procedures to complex cancer treatment and trauma response.
