Main duties of the jobAt Woodlands Neurological Rehabilitation Centre in York, we provide specialist rehabilitation for adults with a range of complex neurological conditions in a supportive, person-centred environment. We are now looking for an exceptional Consultant Clinical Neuropsychologist to join our multidisciplinary team on a part-time basis (15 hours per week).
This is an exciting opportunity for a highly experienced Consultant Clinical Neuropsychologist to provide expert clinical leadership within our specialist neurorehabilitation service. You will play a pivotal role in delivering highly specialist neuropsychological assessment and intervention, influencing rehabilitation pathways, supporting service development, and contributing to the ongoing clinical excellence of our multidisciplinary team.

Job responsibilitiesThe RoleThis is a 15-hour per week position, with days and times to be agreed in collaboration with the successful candidate. The two-day-a-week structure makes it ideal for individuals who have other professional, academic, or personal commitments, offering genuine flexibility in how the role is integrated into your schedule.
As our Consultant Clinical Neuropsychologist, you will provide expert neuropsychological input for adults with acquired brain injury and other complex neurological conditions. Alongside direct clinical work, you will offer consultation and leadership to the multidisciplinary team, contribute to service development and governance, and support the delivery of evidence-based, person-centred rehabilitation.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver highly specialist neuropsychological assessment, formulation and intervention for adults with complex neurological conditions.
- Provide expert clinical leadership and consultation to the multidisciplinary team, promoting best practice in neurorehabilitation.
- Lead on complex case formulation, rehabilitation planning and decision-making for service users with cognitive, emotional and behavioural needs.
- Provide specialist advice, consultation and support to colleagues, families and carers.
- Contribute to clinical governance, service evaluation, quality improvement and the ongoing development of neuropsychology services.
- Support positive behaviour support planning, capacity assessments, complex risk management and safeguarding discussions where appropriate.
- Supervise, mentor and support the professional development of psychology colleagues and trainees where applicable.
- Maintain high standards of clinical documentation, reporting and outcome measurement.
- Champion evidence-based practice and contribute to the strategic development of psychological services within the centre.
Person SpecificationExperience - Essential
- Significant post-qualification experience working with adults with acquired brain injury and complex neurological conditions within specialist neurorehabilitation services.
- Extensive expertise in neuropsychological assessment, formulation and intervention for highly complex presentations.
- Demonstrable experience providing clinical leadership, consultation and supervision within multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong knowledge of cognitive, emotional and behavioural consequences of neurological conditions, alongside current evidence-based neurorehabilitation practice.
- Excellent communication, influencing and report-writing skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with service users, families and professional colleagues.
- A commitment to clinical excellence, innovation, service development and delivering outstanding person-centred care.
Qualifications - Essential
- Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as a Practitioner Psychologist.
- Entry on the Specialist Register of Clinical Neuropsychologists or recognition as a Consultant Clinical Neuropsychologist, with eligibility for or holding the Qualification in Clinical Neuropsychology (QiCN) (or equivalent recognised qualification).
