Description

Job summary
You will be joining a small and supportive team of occupational therapists working on the inpatient older adult ward of Aspen who support adults with function mental health conditions. The team consists of OT's and OT support staff who work alongside physiotherapists, arts psychotherapists, psychology staff as well as the wider nursing and medical team, providing specialist assessments and interventions, supporting patients in their recovery and community discharge.

You will develop your practice in working with older adults using a range of specialist assessments and practice models such as ACLs, VdT MOCA & sensory profiles as well as contributing to the group programme alongside colleagues.

Callington Road Hospital provides a range of ward services and you will have the opportunity to share practice, supervision and resources with a large occupational therapy team on site as well as the later life services in South Gloucestershire including the South Glos Later Life Therapies Team.

Main duties of the job
The role will involve carrying a caseload, assessing and providing treatment plans for older adults with functional mental illness, and working as part of the multi-disciplinary team in assessing and planning needs on discharge from hospital, to support occupation, recovery and safety in the community. The South Gloucestershire inpatient team work alongside the Bristol Therapies services to provide a programme of therapeutic interventions.

We regularly offer fieldwork placements to occupational therapy students from Bristol UWE and there will be an opportunity to participate in our well-established CPD programme. Regular training and development is actively encouraged to provide a forward thinking and high quality service.
