Main duties of the jobThe role will involve working in a patient-centred and holistic way, to promote an individuals well-being.
The post holder will support the smooth running of clinics by performing routine tasks, both clinical and administrative, on behalf of the GPs and other health practitioners within the Practices.

Job responsibilities- Sorting all clinical post and prioritising for the GP in terms of actions. Signposting some post to others such as clinical pharmacist etc.
- Extracting all information from clinical letters that needs coding and adding to notes Completing basic (non-opinion) forms and core elements of some forms for the GP to approve and sign such as insurance forms, mortgage, benefits agency forms etc
- Arranging appointments, referrals, tests and follow up appointments of patients.
- Preparing patients prior to going in to see the GP, taking a brief history and basic readings in readiness for the GP appointment. Explaining treatment procedures to patients. Helping the GP liaise with outside agencies e.g. getting an on call doctor on the phone to ask advice or arrange admission while the GP can continue with their consultation(s)
- Dipping urine, taking blood pressure, ECGs & phlebotomy GPA Competency Framework 2
- Support the GP with immunisations setting up clinics and arranging reviewing admin triage daily.
- Support the PM and the Team leader with setting up the flu annual clinics.
- Prepare all paperwork and take mins for clinical meetings and run reports requested by the Practice Manager.
- Ensure important patient register is updated monthly along with all other registers ie safeguarding, carers, dementia, Learning disabilities, Deaths.
- Review the practice websites and be the main coordinator for the practice face book pages adding in clinical information.
Person SpecificationExperienceEssential- Minimum of 1 years experience in working within a GP Practice
- Previous experience of working a primary care setting and maintained their own clinics. Audit experience would be a requirement of the role.
- Experience of general office procedures e.g. manual and computerised record and filing systems, photocopying and emails
- Ability to work well with all other colleagues with the practice and be a good communicator with patients in order to prevent complaints
- Experience of working in a team
- Experience in minute taking and accurate recording of meetings
- Responding to queries and simple problem solving
- Setting up and maintaining manual and electronic filing systems
CommunicationEssential- Excellent telephone and verbal communication skills.
Desirable- Fluency in more than one language (bilingual or multilingual)

QualificationsEssential- Good standard of education with at least 5 C or Grade 4 GCSES or equivalent
- Accredited 2-year General Practice Assistant (GPA) programme completed.
- Phlebotomy trained
Desirable- Qualified in ECG, Patient Health Checks, Blood Pressure Measuring
- Basic First Aid knowledge
