Whipps Cross University Hospital, part of the Barts Health NHS Trust Group is looking for a full time (1 WTE) Consultant Physician in Acute and Renal Medicine in a substantive post. You will be joining a department that currently has 10 Consultant Acute Physicians with Specialty Interest.

Main duties of the job

You must hold full registration with the General Medical Council and be on the Specialist Registrar or within 6 months of obtaining CCT.

Qualifications
Essential

• Must hold MBChB, MBBS or equivalent degree
• Must hold MRCP (UK)
• Must hold full GMC Registration with license to practice

Desirable

• Author of a peer reviewed publication or conference abstract
• A higher degree (MD, PhD)

Clinical Experience
Essential

• Entry on the General Medical Council (GMC) Specialist Register for both General Internal Medicine and Renal Medicine via one of the following: a.Certificate of completion of training (CCT) (the proposed CCT date must be within 6 months of the interview)
• Portfolio pathway or certificate of eligibility for specialist registration (CESR)
• Relevant European specialist qualification (REQ) OR Recognised Specialist Qualification (RSQ
• Evidence of clinical experience in SDEC or ambulatory care
• Evidence of clinical experience in Renal Tubular disorders

Desirable

• Evidence of clinical experience in a busy and high acuity hospital
• Evidence of setting up and leading a clinical service

Knowledge
Essential

• Demonstrable General Internal Medicine knowledge at the level of a Consultant Physician
• Demonstrable Nephrology knowledge at the level of a Consultant Physician
• Evidence of participation in clinical audit and/or quality improvement
• Evidence of a commitment to life-long learning / continuing professional development (CPD)
• Evidence of participation in clinical governance and applying the principles/regulations in clinical practice

Skills
Essential

• Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams
• Experience teaching medical and nursing colleagues
• Experience with recruitment and supervision of resident doctors
• Evidence of effective written English communication skills

Desirable

• Evidence of developing a teaching program
• Evidence of participation in research projects and/or supervising research

Personal Attributes
Essential

• Demonstrates problem solving skills
• Experience working under pressure
• Evidence of taking additional professional responsibilities at local, regional or national level
