We are looking to recruit an experienced, highly motivated, and enthusiastic pharmacist who will contribute to improving the training and experience of pharmacists and trainees at Newham University Hospital. They will be expected to lead by example and work closely with clinical pharmacy teams to provide expertise in education and training.
The successful candidate will join a supportive, integrated pharmacy team, committed to delivering high quality patient care. They will have access to further educational opportunities and senior clinicians within Pharmacy and other disciplines who can provide mentorship and aid professional development.
Main duties of the jobRoles and responsibilities include (but not limited to):
- To manage and support educational development of staff undertaking the post graduate Diploma at Barts Health NHS Trust
- Ensure that the experience and training meets the requirements of the training provider and of Barts Health Pharmacy Department
- Work closely with the Education, Training & Development Lead Pharmacist and the other education, training & development pharmacists.
- To work with the clinical leads in implementing the Foundation Pharmacist Framework for diploma practitioners, ensuring objectives are appropriately set and that regular appraisals are carried out.
- To be an educational supervisor and practice supervisor for a diploma practitioner and/or designated supervisor for a trainee pharmacist as necessary.
- To jointly lead and manage with the other education, training and development pharmacists on the recruitment process and induction of Foundation trainee pharmacists
- To work with the Education, Training and Development Lead Pharmacy Technician to contribute to the development of the pharmacy workforce
- To provide a specialist clinical pharmacy service to patients in specified wards and clinical areas in line with clinical pharmacy standards and objectives

Person SpecificationQualificationsEssential- MPharm Degree in Pharmacy
- Registered as a pharmacist with the GPhC
- Postgraduate Pharmacy Qualification or equivalent experience (minimum postgraduate diploma level)
Desirable- Post Graduate Management / Specialist ETD qualification or equivalent expertise
- Completion of Statement of Teaching Proficiency
- Independent prescribing qualification, or willing to undergo training to become a non-medical prescriber
KnowledgeEssential- Knowledge of trainee pharmacists foundation training year
- Awareness of Royal College of Pharmacy foundation pharmacy framework and its application in practice
- An awareness of current national and regional standards and guidance relevant to education and training (GPhC, NHS England, RPS)
- Understanding of GPhC Revalidation requirements
- Up to date knowledge of legislation relevant to pharmacy practice, e.g. controlled drugs, Health and Safety at Work
ExperienceEssential- Experience of working as an educational supervisor role with either trainee pharmacists or foundation training pharmacists
- Experience of delivering professional training and education to staff members
- Experience of delivering responsibilities and objectives to time in previous posts
- Experience of successfully managing staff, performing appraisals and giving feedback
- Ability to undertake and facilitate audits and research
