Description

Job summary
Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board wishes to appoint two full time Locum Consultant Dermatologists to be based at either Wrexham Maelor Hospital or Glan Clwyd Hospital.

The posts are for ten sessions per week of which,eight sessions will be for Direct Clinical Care (DCC) and two for Supporting Professional Activity (SPA). Part time/ flexible working may be considered following discussion and agreement with the Clinical Lead and Divisional Medical Director.

There is an expectation to see a case mix of adult general dermatology and skin cancer in line with service needs.

The departments currently run Teledermatology clinics, and suitable candidates may be able to undertake Teledermatology clinics as part of direct clinical care programmed activities in line with service needs.

Main duties of the job
To provide dermatology outpatient services to patients in collaboration with nursing and medical colleagues.

To provide dermatological inpatient care and provide specialist advice for inpatients as part of acute dermatology cover.

To share responsibility for professional standards and quality control within the dermatology services ensuring compliance with standards which satisfy clinical governance.

To develop dermatological service with other consultant colleagues in recognition of regional and national guidelines where appropriate.

To share in providing emergency cover for colleague's study/annual leave or illness.

To develop and implement clinical audit programmes within the Dermatology Departments and in collaboration with other clinical groups.

To participate in consultant annual appraisal.

To participate in service development and business planning in collaboration with other consultant colleagues and the wider health community.

To provide training opportunities for undergraduates and postgraduates in dermatology.

The successful candidate must have a commitment to revalidation, medical audit and continuing professional development

  • Broad Based general experience in dermatology and cutaneous surgery, skin cancer experience is a must
