Job summaryThis post will be paid at Band 6 until the essential requirements of the Band 7 role are met (this will include Embryo Transfer competency and at least being enrolled onto the ESHRE course or agreed equivalent).
To have responsibility for a programme of licenced treatment and take the lead in development of that specific service element.
To coordinate and participate in delivery of nursing related clinic related activities, working independently in nurse-led clinics to monitor and assess the progress of treatments within the BWFC, adhering to Trust policies and procedures, the HFEA Code of Practice and NMC Code of Conduct.
To play a key part in the Fertility Centre senior team in providing high quality care to all patients accessing our services.
Main duties of the jobThe post holder will have strong clinically specialist Fertility nursing knowledge and skills, working alongside the Nurse Manager at the same band, but have specific duties for specialist nursing within the service. Understanding for the advanced clinical roles and aspirations for nurses within the service is essential, as is to have the majority of these competencies.
To take responsibility for specific areas of activity as allocated by the Matron and Senior Team and participate in development of those service elements.
The post holder will work with guidance from a variety of team members, but will need to be able prioritise and initiate the nursing team's and their own workload as appropriate.

Person SpecificationQualificationsEssential- Registered Nurse
- Further fertility specific qualifications and courses, such as ESHRE Nurse Accreditation etc (this may be obtained as part of this training post)
KNOWLEDGE & NATURE OF EXPERIENCEEssential- At least five years of Fertility experience with knowledge of all types of treatments offered in the Fertility Centre.
- Ongoing evidence of maintained CPD in Fertility
- Excellent communication skills
- Willing and able to undertake additional training as required
- Able to demonstrate sensitive and empathetic approach to patients in treatment
- Knowledge of The Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority
- Ultrasound scanning for treatment and early pregnancy
- Embryo Transfer skills

- Phlebotomy Skills
- Experience of using an electronic patient record / Patient Administration / IT systems in Healthcare
- Experience of minor operative procedures and recovery experience
