Ocean Ward is a 6 bedded unit caring for patients requiring long term ventilation via tracheostomy.

It is essential we recruit nurses that have a passion for the specialty to provide the standard of care we expect.

Main duties of the job
As a band 5 staff nurse your job will be:

• To provide high quality care for the child and family in a safe and professional environment.
• Family integrated care is promoted by working in partnership with the child and family.
• All staff will be supported in order to develop professional expertise in LTV
• Professional development will support NMC and mandatory requirements and meet service need.

Qualifications
Essential

• RN Child student due to qualify in September
• Eligible to apply for NMC registration in September
• BSc degree (child)
• Evidence of recent and ongoing professional development

KNOWLEDGE & NATURE OF EXPERIENCE

• Full understanding of Family Centred Care
• Experience of working with children and young people
• Understanding of professional and current issues in children's nursing

ANALYTICAL AND JUDGEMENT SKILLS

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Able to work well independently and as part of a team
• Able to think quickly in a rapidly changing acute environment

PROFESSIONAL / MANAGERIAL / SPECIALIST KNOWLEDGE

• IT skills: Basic computer skills
