Description

Job summary
Clinical Specialist Podiatrist in the High Risk Foot working across 2 acute settings in the Rapid Access Foot Ulcer Clinics and supporting the community based podiatry service in a variety of other settings.

To diagnose and treat patients with complex foot pathologies and provide clinical leadership to the High Risk Foot Team.

To facilitate and lead on audits and clinical governance.

Main duties of the job
  • Provide expert knowledge and skills in the treatment of the High Risk Foot.
  • Be responsible for achieving Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) for diabetic foot ulcer intervention, developing plans to improve performance.
  • Be responsible for continuous service improvement in the care of patients with complex, podiatric care needs
  • Be responsible for advance areas of work and be a source of advice/ training/ support for the High Risk Foot Team and the wider MDT.
  • Develop referral pathways, Standard Operating Procedures and Clinical Standards to ensure current and safe clinical practice.
  • Be responsible for maintaining clinical stock levels within a limited budget.

Person Specification
Experience
Essential
  • Significant postgraduate clinical podiatrist NHS work experience including Clinical leadership experience.
  • Working in isolation and as a team member including the treatment and management of very high-risk patients in clinical settings and domiciliary settings
  • Ability to contribute to the development of policy/guidelines/ pathways.
  • Working in a multidisciplinary team and liaison with other health care professionals.

Qualifications
Essential
  • Podiatry diploma/degree.
  • HCPC registered podiatrist.
  • Local anaesthetic certificate.
  • Evidence of continuing postgraduate specialist training

Desirable
  • Experience of working in all specialists' areas within Podiatry
  • Independent Prescribing qualification or working towards one.
