Job summary
The Neurodevelopmental Stream is looking for enthusiastic, ambitious and professional Assistant Psychologists to join our services. The post holders are expected to be eligible for membership of the British Psychological Society at Graduate Basis for Registration having achieved either a 2:1 honours degree, or higher, in psychology or having completed a British Psychological Society accredited psychology conversion course.

The Neurodevelopmental Stream sits within Psychological Health Services and comprises two specialist psychology services: the Paediatric Neuropsychology Service and the Children and Young People's Gender Service (CYPGS). Through this recruitment process we are seeking to appoint Assistant Psychologists to posts across the stream. In addition, we are also recruiting to a post within the Paediatric Health stream working within the Southwest Lifespan Cleft Lip and Palate Service. In addition to a minimum of two permanent posts, we are also recruiting to a part-time fixed term post as part of this recruitment. Applicants may express a preference for a particular service at interview, however, appointments will be made according to both candidate preference and service need.

Main duties of the job
All assistant psychology posts involve a mixture of direct clinical work and non-patient-facing responsibilities. Typical duties may include administering and scoring standardised psychological assessments and questionnaires, collecting and managing clinical outcome data, preparing case summaries, supporting service evaluation and audit activities, undertaking literature reviews, maintaining clinical databases and contributing to research and service development projects. Assistant Psychologists will receive regular supervision from qualified psychologists and will have access to development opportunities including access to peer support and professional development activities across Psychological Health Services.

Job responsibilities
Duties specific to posts in the Neuropsychology Service include:

• Work with children and young people with a range of neurological, and neurodevelopmental conditions across inpatient and outpatient settings.
• Support neuropsychological assessments by administering, scoring and organising standardised psychometric assessment measures with children, under the supervision of a qualified Clinical Psychologist or Neuropsychologist.
• Support the development of psychological resources and information materials for children, young people, families and professionals.
• Attend multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute relevant clinical information within the limits of competence and role boundaries.

Duties specific to posts in the CYPGS Service include:

• Provide support to the MDT clinicians according to service need; this will include clinical, research, and service-development related tasks.
• Support the engagement of children, young people, and their families during their time within the service, and support them to access opportunities in their local area.
• Liaise with other professionals and services in the network to facilitate joined-up care for the children, young people, and families accessing the service.
• Support the development of psychological resources and information materials for children, young people, families, and professionals.
• Attend multidisciplinary team meetings, clinics, and contribute relevant clinical information within the limits of competence and boundaries.

Duties specific to the Cleft Service include:

• Work with children and adults across inpatient and outpatient settings.
• Providing clinical support both in clinics and individually in preparing for surgery decision making and adjusting to having a cleft.
• Support with developing resources, providing confidence groups and working with network psychologists on individual pathways and projects.
• Attend multidisciplinary team meetings, clinics and contribute relevant clinical information within the limits of competence and boundaries.

Qualifications
Essential

• Undergraduate Psychology Degree (or conversion degree)
