Job summaryAn exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and experienced Band 6 nurse to join the Acute Medical Unit and General Internal Medicine teams as a Practice and Education Facilitator on a substantive, full time position of 37.5 hours a week.
This role is ideal for an enthusiastic clinician with a passion for education and workforce development. The post holder will support the learning and development of nursing staff across the department as well as the division, including preceptorship, student support, competency development and clinical skills training. Working closely with the senior nursing team and multidisciplinary colleagues, the Practice Education Facilitator will help promote high standards of clinical practice, patient safety and professional development within a busy and dynamic environment as well as supporting the division to delivery training.
We are looking for a proactive, organised individual with strong clinical credibility, excellent communication skills and a commitment to supporting others to learn and thrive in the Acute Medical Unit and General Internal Medicine settings.
Main duties of the jobThe Practice Education Facilitator will lead and support the development of a positive learning culture within the Acute Medical Unit and General Internal Medicine. This role requires an experienced Acute Medicine nurse with significant acute clinical experience and a strong understanding of current nursing issues, national policy and legislative frameworks affecting clinical practice.
The post holder will create and maintain an effective clinical learning environment, supporting staff of all grades through structured teaching, coaching and competency development. You will design, deliver and facilitate education programmes, contribute to appraisal and professional development processes, and promote evidence-based practice.
Applicants must be a Registered Nurse educated to degree level (or equivalent experience), hold a recognised mentorship and teaching qualification, and demonstrate up-to-date clinical skills. Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills are essential, alongside strong organisational ability, IT competence, and the capacity to plan and manage training programmes effectively.
The successful candidate will be a confident role model who can work independently, manage competing priorities, support staff in sensitive situations, and positively influence professional standards, staff development and retention within a busy same day emergency care environment.
