Job summary
We are looking for applications for an exciting full time Band 7 Dietitian role within our Dietetics service; we are seeking a Dietitian with expertise in complex nutrition support to manage a Dietetic caseload in critical care, spinal injuries and intestinal failure, to work alongside other members of the Nutrition Team. The post holder will also have responsibility for a weekly spinal injuries Dietetic clinic at Stoke Mandeville Hospital, along with identified service develop and quality improvement projects.

The postholder will have line management responsibilities for a Band 6 dietitian and support junior and Student Dietitians.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will be an autonomous practitioner and act as a source of clinical expertise in the area of complex nutrition support for inpatient and outpatient areas.Provide specialised assessment, treatment, and support of patients in critical care, National spinal injuries centre and in intestinal failure requiring dietetic treatment with other members of the Nutrition TeamLead on service development and quality improvement initiatives in this specialist area including input to audit and research projects.To work as a member of the Nutrition & Dietetic Department, developing and leading on dietetic services for complex nutrition support in critical care and NSIC, working across integrated services to achieve improved health outcomes for this patient co-hort.To work autonomously, building excellent communication and handover processes with community services to ensure seamless care for patients moving between acute and community care.To act as a specialist resource for other dietitians working in the service as well as other professionals, sharing local and national developments; liaise closely with the nutrition team and Consultant Nutrition-Team lead, community dietetics team and other therapy services to optimise care and meet devised outcomes.To line manage a Band 6 Dietitian and provide clinical supervision for junior members of the team and dietetic students.

Qualifications
Essential

• Degree or masters qualification in Dietetics
• HCPC registration
• Masters or equivalent level of study in post grad subject relevant to the role

Desirable

• advanced communication skills qualification
• member of specialist BDA group relevant to role

skills and experience
Essential

• complex nutrition support assessment and dietetic treatment planning
• knowledge of complex nutritional support / ANS/ complex routes of feeding.
• knowledge of TPN in Dietetic assessment and treatment planning
• HEF discharge planning experience
• Working knowledge of MS Office and IT applications/ Internet for communication and information
• Line managememnt/leadership expereince
• experience of supervising students on placememnt

Desirable

• Experience in spinal injuries, stroke or neuro conditions
• experience of working in Critical care as a dietitian
