Main duties of the jobThe post holder will be responsible for the co-ordination and management of a portfolio of experimental medicine clinical research studies; leadership and management of a team of clinical research nurses; oversight and management of activity within a defined clinical area.Studies span a wide range of clinical specialties including the NIHR Biomedical Research Centre and Unit themes of: Cancer, Metabolism, Neurosciences, Maternal and Child Health, Cardiology and Immunological diseases, Neurodegenerative disorders and BioResource. Core activity includes supporting ethically approved translational/experimental medicine studies including early phase drug trials of novel therapeutic antibodies & biologics, novel device studies, genetic studies.
The post holder will be responsible for collaborating with key study team personnel to ensure compliance with regulations and procedures relevant to study conduct, care and support for patients and healthy volunteers participating in studies, data quality. The post holder will ensure appropriate and safe care for study participants taking responsibility for supervising the safe administration of experimental therapies, for monitoring the expected and unexpected side effects of experimental drugs and other treatment modalities in accordance with approved study protocols.

Person SpecificationQualificationsEssential- Registered Nurse educated to Degree level or willingness to undertake
- Evidence of continuous professional development.
- Teaching qualification

Desirable- First Degree or studying towards First Degree

ExperienceEssential- Extensive experience in various clinical trials
- Clinical trial treatment delivery
- Advanced Therapy Medical Product / Chemotherapy delivery
- Considerable staff management experience ward or team
- Band 6 or above in clinical research
- Previous experience of nursing within a research environment
