Job summary
To provide family therapy service to children and young people with mental health problems across all sectors of care as part of a multi-disciplinary CAMH service. Providing specialist family assessment and therapy to service users and their families/carers and advice and consultation on their care to non-family therapy colleagues and the professional network involved in their support.

The post holder will work autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the service's policies and procedures. They will utilise research skills for audit to support policy and service development; and undertake research within the area served by the service and of relevance to young people their families and carers.

The post holder will provide generic initial and Duty CAMHS assessments and interventions as well as providing specialist family therapy interventions and contribute to support plans for the care of children and young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties.

Main duties of the job
To work as a member of the multi-disciplinary CAMH service for children and young people within the clinical governance structures and protocols of the service.

To undertake generic and specialist family therapy /systemic assessments of children and families referred to the service.

To provide a specialist family therapy service to children, young people and their parents/carers.

To provide Systemic Consultation to colleagues within CAMHS & partner agencies.

To be part of the Family Therapy Clinic both as a reflecting team member and as lead therapist.

To undertake Multi-family interventions and group work.

Where necessary to assist in supervising other systemic colleagues and practitioners

To receive regular clinical supervision in accordance with Trust guidelines.

To pursue continuing professional development by relevant study and attendance at training events, courses and conferences to gain experience and skills relevant to the service.

To remain current with all mandatory / statutory training for the service

To maintain professional registration with UKCP

To adhere to local and Trust policies and procedures including Health & Safety, Lone Working, Sickness and Absence, and Annual Leave.

Job responsibilities

• The post holder will join the multi-disciplinary CAMH Service in delivering mental health care to children, young people, and their families, including involvement in the multi-disciplinary assessment pathway.
• The post holder will provide specialist Systemic assessment and therapy
• The post holderwill offer specialist Systemic, psychological and / or mental health input to children, young people, and their families.
• The post holderwill form part of the Family Therapy clinic, as both reflecting team member and lead therapist
• The post holderwill offer systemic consultation on clients psychological care to colleagues from all disciplines and to individuals external to CAMHS working autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the teams policies and procedures.
• The post holderwill support the psychological assessment and therapy provided by other professionals and offer supervision as agreed per job plan.

Person Specification
Education and Qualifications
Essential

• Post-graduate family therapy training to MSc level or equivalent.
• UKCP registration as family therapist

Desirable

• Post-qualification training in additional CAMHS related specialised areas
• Post-qualification training in teaching and supervision of child family therapy
• CYP IAPT training/Supervisor training
• Qualification in core mental health or social welfare profession (e.g. social work, mental health nursing, psychology, occupational therapy) and significant post qualification experience

Experience
Essential

• Substantial post qualifying experience of working within a multidisciplinary CAMHS team.
• Experience in supervising as Family Therapist
• Experience of developing and delivering bespoke CAMHS training to non CAMHS professionals
• Experience of developing and delivering clinical training to colleagues

Desirable

• Experience of developing bespoke training packages
• Experience of managing and supervising others in a clinical and performance management context including appraisal
• Fluent in an additional language

• Experience of running parenting groups (Triple P, Mellow, Webster Stratton, etc) and other types of group work group such as multi- family group

• Able to use Word and Excel to write reports and analyse and present basic data.
• Able to maintain consistent records for contacts and to adhere to service line / Trust guidelines on use of templates / formats
• Competent in the use of clinical recording systems such as SystmOne, RiO, Jade
