To provide occupational therapy assessment and treatment for referred clients, as part of a multidisciplinary team, planning, implementing, and evaluating interventions for groups or individuals, identifiedwithin the unit. This is a broad summary of the role detailing key areas of operation and responsibilities - further detail will be provided in the Main Duties and Responsibilities section, below, which provides moregranular detail.
Main duties of the job- Be an active member of the clinical team, providing a comprehensive Occupational Therapy service to residents of West Hertfordshire within the bed-based unit.
- Work within professional standards and clinical guidelines, promote best practice and to undertake all aspects of clinical duties as an autonomous practitioner including assessing andtreating own caseload of patients/clients and maintaining professional documentation.
- Build up and maintain key relationships with referring services across CLCH including the acuteand community teams to facilitate appropriate referrals and an understanding of the role of the Occupational Therapist and the Multi-professional team
- Be responsible for the supervision Rehabilitation Assistants and Occupational Therapystudents, with guidance from Senior Therapists.
- Support self and service development through active participation in Continuing ProfessionalDevelopment (CPD) and by participating in any Inservice Training, Audit or research beingundertaken by the service

Person SpecificationEducational/Qualifications- Diploma/Degree in Occupational Therapy.
- Current AHP with UK HCPC registration
- Evidence of active CPD portfolio
- Relevant Post graduate training
Skills and Knowledge- Knowledge of current best practice in OT
- Ability to work single-handedly with individuals and groups.
- Understanding of professional ethics and their application in practice.
- Understanding of team dynamics.
- Basic knowledge of health legislation and current practice, risk assessment and management.
- Effective written, verbal and listening communication skills.
- Basic knowledge of the principals of clinical governance
- Ability to reflect and critically appraise own performance.
- Health, safety and risk awareness.
- Ability to manage time/caseload effectively.
- Commitment to client-centred, non-discriminatory practice.
Key Attributes- Hold a full, valid, UK driving licence and have access to a car to use for business purposes (unless you have a disability as defined by the Equality Act 2010)
ExperienceEssential- Application of the OT Process.
- Experience of working as part of an MDT
- Use of functional assessment and activity analysis.
- Relevant work experience in a variety of clinical placements
Desirable- Experience of delegation to support staff.
- Previous experience of working in the NHS
