Job summary
Temporary Bank Specialist Tissue Viability Nurse- Band 6 or Band 7

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am - 4:00pm

We are seeking an experienced and motivated band 6 or band 7 Specialist Tissue Viability Nurse to join our team on a temporary basis.

The successful candidate will provide a specialist nursing service for patients with complex wounds and associated healthcare needs. You will undertake comprehensive patient assessments, accurately document clinical outcomes within the electronic patient record system, and work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality, patient-centred care.

Main duties of the job
Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide a specialist nursing service for patients with complex wounds and associated healthcare needs.
  • Undertake comprehensive patient assessments and maintain accurate clinical documentation within the electronic patient record system.
  • Liaise effectively with multidisciplinary teams, providing evidence-based advice and recommendations to support holistic patient care.
  • Develop, implement, and communicate evidence-based treatment plans to ensure coordinated, safe, and effective care.
  • Promote best practice in tissue viability and wound management, contributing to positive patient outcomes.

Essential/Desirable Experience:
  • Registered Nurse with relevant Tissue Viability/Wound Care experience.
  • Experience working as a Community Tissue Viability Specialist Nurse is highly desirable.
  • Candidates with similar specialist Tissue Viability experience gained within an acute hospital setting will also be considered.
  • Excellent assessment, communication, and multidisciplinary working skills.
  • Ability to work independently while delivering high-quality, evidence-based care.

Essential
  • Registered Nurse
  • Leg Ulcer management / Tissue Viability or Equivalent
  • Teaching/mentoring or equivalent

Desirable
  • Ability to work with and lead others across profession
  • Community nursing qualification experience of working in primary care

Experience
Essential
  • Significant post graduate experience in acute and community setting
  • Experience in Tissue Viability
  • Evaluation and audit experience
  • Evidence of MDT working

Desirable
  • Experience in undertaking research application of research to practice

Skills & Knowledge
Essential
  • Advanced nursing skills in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of patients with Tissue Viability needs.
  • Experience in working with patients and professionals to prevent and Treat pressure ulcers.
  • Experience in working with patients and professional in leg ulcer management.
  • Independent decision making with appropriate reference to others
  • Collaborative working with colleagues including those of differing disciples.
  • A record of personal/professional development that shows progression.
  • Working knowledge of present NHS policies and direction
  • Some knowledge and understanding of quality improvement, clinical governance principles application in clinical setting.
  • Experience of Microsoft office

Desirable
  • Evidence of involvement in benchmarking, testing services

Essential
  • Hold a full, valid, UK driving licence and have access to a car to use for business purposes (unless you have a disability as defined by the Equality Act 2010)
