NHS Business Development Director to lead our NHS commercial strategy, develop influential relationships across the NHS, and secure long-term partnerships that benefit patients, commissioners, and healthcare systems.
About the RoleAs NHS Business Development Director, you will be accountable for building, managing and converting senior NHS relationships into sustainable commercial partnerships. Working directly with Integrated Care Boards (ICBs), NHS Trusts and other key stakeholders, you will drive revenue growth through the acquisition of new contracts and the expansion of existing agreements across CHEC's services.
You will act as one of the external representatives of CHEC, building relationships with executive-level decision makers and positioning us as the partner of choice for improving patient access, reducing waiting times and delivering outstanding patient outcomes.
- Developing and executing CHEC's NHS commercial growth strategy.
- Building and managing a high-value pipeline of opportunities across ICBs and NHS Trusts.
- Leading Indicative Activity Plan (IAP) negotiations and contract expansion opportunities.
- Identifying new partnership opportunities across multiple specialities, including Ophthalmology, Dermatology, Gastroenterology and ENT.
- Supporting market analysis and identifying opportunities for sustainable growth.
- Building influential relationships with ICB Directors, NHS Trust Executives, Commissioners and Clinical Leaders.
- Acting as a trusted advisor and strategic partner to NHS stakeholders.
- Developing a comprehensive stakeholder engagement strategy across active and target NHS accounts.
- Owning the NHS commercial pipeline, forecasting and order book.
- Working with Finance to ensure strong commercial returns and sustainable contract performance.
- Contributing to the wider commercial leadership agenda and helping shape CHEC's future growth strategy
About YouYou'll be an experienced commercial leader with a strong NHS network, excellent relationship-building skills and a proven ability to secure and grow strategic healthcare partnerships.
Essential Experience- Significant experience in NHS business development, commissioning, or healthcare commercial leadership.
- A proven track record of negotiating and securing contracts with ICBs and NHS Trusts.
- Strong understanding of NHS commissioning structures, procurement processes and IAP frameworks.
- Experience influencing senior stakeholders at Board, Executive and Director level.
- Excellent commercial acumen with the ability to translate data into compelling business cases.
- Outstanding communication, negotiation and presentation skills.
- Degree educated or equivalent professional experience.
Desirable Experience- Experience in independent healthcare or NHS elective recovery services.
- Knowledge across Ophthalmology, Dermatology, Gastroenterology and/or ENT pathways.
- Tender and bid-writing experience.
- Established network of NHS commissioning and provider contacts.
- Experience producing Board-level reports and commercial submissions.
- Familiarity with CRM systems such as HubSpot.
