Salary: From £16.99 per hour (plus enhancements for night, weekend and bank holiday working)

“Happy, amazing, special and fun” are perhaps not the first words that spring to mind when you think of a children’s hospice but this is exactly how our families describe our hospices. Matched by our staff feeling “proud, rewarded and making a difference” by working in this special setting, this is perhaps quite a different role to what you might have expected.

About Us:
We are an established and successful charity providing hospice care for children with life limiting conditions and their families in the South West of England. We aim to recruit passionate, friendly and enthusiastic staff who are motivated to really make a difference to the lives of the children and families who visit us.

What you will be doing:
We have a vacancy to join the Bank team at Little Harbour. Applicants should be experienced in caring for children with life-limiting conditions, complex needs or chronic illnesses. We provide respite, palliative and bereavement care for children with life-limiting conditions on a one-to-one basis. Having the time to build relationships with children and their families whilst they are at the hospice and between visits helps to make our roles incredibly fulfilling.

Working as part of a friendly team, Little Harbour offers a beautiful, welcoming, well equipped workplace within a supportive environment where you will be recognised as a valuable individual member of the care team. 98% of our staff strongly agree that they enjoy the work they do at CHSW and we value our staff and offer an excellent working environment with an enthusiastic and committed team.

Hours are worked on rotating shifts (up to 12.5 hours) including weekdays, nights, weekends and bank holidays. Working on a bank basis provides you with the flexibility to choose the shifts you are able to work, however we do ask for a commitment of at least 10 shifts across the year to ensure you are up to date with our processes and policies.

If you are not sure about what it is like to work in a Children's Hospice or the precious service we offer our children and families, please look at our website. Meet Lorraine one of our Team Leaders https://www.chsw.org.uk/story/meet-lorraine, be inspired by our family stories https://www.chsw.org.uk/about/inspiring-stories or view our quality report https://www.chsw.org.uk/about/publications/quality-accounts

Or to arrange an informal chat or visit to Little Harbour, please give our HR Team a call on 01726 871800.

NOTE: when applying please include a full CV with employment history with education / training information and also upload your supporting statement in addition to your CV.

Closing Date: 20 September 2026
