We have an opportunity for a Lead Theatre Practitioner to join their team of staff in the Theatre department.
Duties of this role include:- Lead the delivery of high-quality, patient-centred care across the perioperative pathway, acting as a specialist or functional lead within the team.
- Ensure that all patient safety checks, including WHO surgical safety processes, are carried out in accordance with hospital policy.
- Provide day-to-day leadership and supervision for theatre practitioners and support staff, fostering a culture of professionalism, compassion, and accountability.
- Act as an advocate for patients, ensuring their rights, safety, and dignity are upheld at all times.
- Apply all relevant legislation, policies, and procedures to theatre operations, ensuring adherence to professional and regulatory standards.
- Work collaboratively with anaesthetists, surgeons, recovery staff, and wider hospital teams to ensure effective patient flow and continuity of care.
Applicants should meet the following criteria:- NMC or HCPC registered practitioner with significant experience in a theatre environment (e.g. scrub, recovery, or anaesthetics).
- Demonstrated clinical leadership experience and ability to act as a role model to peers.
- Strong understanding of patient safety protocols, safeguarding, infection control, and clinical governance.
- Scrub Practitioner or Surgical First Assistant qualification [for scrub leads].
- ENB 998 and/or mentorship course.
- Approved / recognised anaesthetic course.
- ILS.
- Excellent communication, organisation, and mentoring skills.
- Commitment to personal development and supporting the development of others.
- Experience in major orthopaedics is desired.
