We are searching for enthusiastic and dynamic School Nurses to influence the transformation of the Healthy Child Programme offer in York. We are committed to maintaining the public health nature of the service and focussing on improving health outcomes for children and young people in York.

Rated Good by CQC, working as a School Nurse in York offers a great opportunity to be pro-active in the delivery of the Healthy Child programme whilst providing a high-quality service to clients.

Main duties of the job
As part of the Healthy Child Service team, you will be working alongside a range of partners providing support to children, young people and families across the Family Hub Network. The roles are based in Family Hubs across the city and there may be the opportunity for some home/hybrid working. We provide all of our contacts with children and families in person and encourage office presence to support team morale.

Job responsibilities
The Specialist Community Public Health Nurse (SCPHN) - School Nurse, will work closely with the SCPHN Health Visitors to lead the delivery of the 5-19 Healthy Child Service within the Local Area Team (LAT), under the leadership of the Healthy Child Service Manager, working collaboratively and with partner agencies to deliver a holistic service which promotes healthy living and provides advice and support about health issues for school aged children. The work of the service is based on proven public health evidence and will be directed by priorities identified through the local Joint Strategic Needs Assessment.

  • Registered Nurse or Midwife on part 1 of the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) register
