Job summary
Due to the relocation of our existing ANP, we are looking for an Advanced Nurse Practitioner who is an independent prescriber and has experience in the treatment of minor illness (level 7 or working towards level 7) to join our clinical practice team of GPs, Practice Nurses and HCAs, a Clinical Pharmacist, a Pharmacy Technician and Physiotherapist. Ideally, we would like someone to work up to 29 hours per week (on a Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday). We offer 15-minute appointments, admin time each day and a named GP mentor of the day where any patients can openly be discussed and support offered where required. Main duties of the job
The successful candidate will be an independent prescriber, will have experience of delivering face to face consultations and telephone consultations, directing care appropriately and managing complete episodes of care independently. We would like someone with post-registration experience of which are ideally working in a primary care or urgent care environment. We would expect you to hold or be working towards an MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice.

About us
You would be joining a three-partner practice, with four salaried GPs, a clinical pharmacist, a pharmacy technician and a first contact physio. Our skilled nursing team are experts in diabetes and respiratory medicine. We are a training practice and currently have an ST3 with us. We teach medical students from Bristol University and several of our doctors are involved in the GP fellowship mentoring scheme. We are proud to say that we score highly in the Bristol, North Somerset & South Gloucestershire area National Patient Satisfaction Survey and our monthly friends and family responses continue to support these results. We have a superb reception team, who are skilled care navigators, so at present we are continuing to provide a traditional model of general practice, meaning that our clinicians can spend time seeing patients, rather than triaging online requests for appointments. We also have a fantastic admin team who work very hard to reduce the administrative burden on the doctors/ANP. As a practice we are passionate about the well being of our staff. We have a daily morning coffee break to allow us to meet up, fortnightly morning clinical meetings and educational evening supper clubs. We also have quarterly all staff training afternoon. We are located right by the Bristol to Bath cycle path, and several members of staff regularly cycle to work. We are fortunate to have a lovely garden so in the summer we often have our lunch outside.

Job responsibilities
  • Act as an expert practitioner, demonstrating advanced clinical competence and a knowledge base beyond those associated with conventional nursing roles
  • Work as an autonomous nurse/clinical practitioner providing high quality and timely patient centred care
  • Be an independent prescriber
  • Have experience of delivering face to face and telephone consultations, directing care appropriately and managing complete episodes of care independently
  • Undertake consultations with patients as an autonomous practitioner and using own clinical judgement, diagnose, treat, refer and or discharge patients
  • Recommend, investigate and explain appropriate and non-invasive diagnostic tests, investigations and interpret findings and reports

Person Specification
Experience
Essential
  • You will have experience of delivering face to face and telephone consultations, directing care appropriately and managing complete episode of care independently
  • Management of minor illnesses or ailments
  • Proven ability to the safe management of acute and ongoing illness in patients presenting with undifferentiated diagnoses
  • Able to work autonomously, without immediate support and supervision
  • Proven ability to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of own clinical practice

Desirable
  • Two years ideally working in a primary care or urgent care environment

Qualifications
Essential
  • You should hold, or be working towards an MSc in Advanced Clinical Practice
  • Hold a Masters degree in Advanced Clinical Practice
  • Current registered nurse (NMC/RGN)
  • Additional qualifications consistent with MSc Pathway (Advanced Clinical Practice, Clinical Patient Assessment, Research and Audit)
  • Independent prescriber
  • Minor illness diploma or equivalent level of qualification/experience
  • Evidence of continuing professional development (CPDE)
  • Valid UK work permit (if needed)

Desirable
  • Two years ideally working in a primary care or urgent care environment
