We're looking for a Matron (Surgical Services) to provide senior clinical leadership across our surgical and procedural services at our West London Clinic.

This is a key leadership role, acting as the senior clinical decision-maker on site and working closely with the National Lead Surgical Services to ensure safe, effective and patient-centred care across Theatre, Endoscopy, Day Surgery Ward and Outpatients.

You'll lead through others, managing our Heads of Department and supporting them to deliver high standards of clinical practice, governance, workforce deployment and patient experience. You'll be visible, credible and calm under pressure, with the ability to bring teams together around shared standards and continuous improvement.

This Matron role would suit an experienced Theatre Manager ready to take the next step in their career. The post offers the opportunity to retain and use clinical skills while providing leadership, support and professional guidance to departmental leads.

About the Role
As Matron - Surgical Services, you'll provide professional, operational and clinical leadership across our surgical services. You'll hold site-level clinical oversight, ensuring departments are safe, well-led, appropriately staffed and responsive to patient and service needs.

You'll play a central role in maintaining internal CQC readiness, supporting JAG requirements, leading governance activity, and ensuring that learning from incidents, audits, complaints and patient feedback is embedded into practice.

This role would suit an experienced senior nurse, ODP or registered healthcare professional who has led across surgical, procedural or acute clinical services and is ready to take ownership of a broad, multi-department clinical leadership role.

What you will be doing
You will:
  • Act as the senior clinical lead on site for surgical and procedural services.
  • Provide visible leadership across Theatre, Endoscopy, Day Surgery Ward and Outpatients.
  • Manage and support Heads of Department, including the Theatre Manager, Endoscopy Service Manager and Ward and Outpatients Lead.
  • Ensure safe staffing, effective rota planning, appropriate skill mix and workforce deployment.
  • Lead clinical governance, patient safety activity, incident investigation and learning.
  • Maintain internal CQC readiness across clinical services on site.
  • Support JAG submission and assurance activity for Endoscopy.
  • Monitor clinical performance, patient flow, utilisation, productivity and cancellations from a clinical leadership perspective.
  • Support audit, quality improvement and service development programmes.
  • Promote a culture of learning, accountability, compassion and continuous improvement.
  • Work closely with consultants, anaesthetists, clinical teams, governance colleagues and senior leaders.

What we're looking for
We're looking for someone who brings:
  • Current professional registration with the NMC or HCPC.
  • Significant senior clinical leadership experience in surgical, procedural or acute healthcare services.
  • Experience leading across multiple clinical departments or services.
  • Experience managing clinical leaders or multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong understanding of CQC standards, clinical governance, patient safety and risk management.
  • Experience supporting regulatory readiness, inspection preparation or accreditation activity.
  • Strong workforce management experience, including rota oversight, safe staffing and skill mix.
  • A track record of leading improvement, developing teams and embedding high clinical standards.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to influence confidently at all levels.

Experience in an independent healthcare setting, JAG-accredited service or surgical clinic environment would be helpful, but is not essential.
