Description

Job summary
Live, work, and thrive in one of the UK's most desirable locations

Are you ready to take the next step in your career while enjoying an exceptional quality of life? Cornwall Partnership NHS Foundation Trust is offering a unique opportunity to join our general Adult psychiatry team within the Inpatient Rehabilitation Psychiatric team at Bodmin Hospital . Whilst this role is advertised as less than full time, there is the potential for a full time post for the right applicant.

Why Cornwall?

Nestled in one of the UK's most sought-after regions, Cornwall offers:
  • Stunning beaches and unspoilt countryside right on your doorstep
  • A family-friendly environment with excellent schools and welcoming communities
  • A slower pace of life balanced with vibrant cultural, food, and arts scenes

The Role

We are seeking a dynamic and forward-thinking Specialist Dr who can provide strong clinical leadership and help shape the future of our services.

What We Offer
  • Generous relocation and recruitment package to make your move stress-free
  • Flexible and family-friendly working arrangements designed to support a positive work-life balance
  • Opportunities for professional growth, including involvement in research, teaching, and service innovation
  • The chance to make a real impact, influencing service development while delivering high-quality care

Main duties of the job

The postholder will work within the Inpatient Rehabilitation Service, providing clinical leadership and high-quality psychiatric care to patients with severe and enduring mental illness admitted to Fettle House. Working closely with the Consultant Psychiatrist, resident doctor, multidisciplinary team, and Community Mental Health Rehabilitation Team, the postholder will be responsible for the assessment, treatment, ongoing management, and discharge planning of rehabilitation inpatients. The role includes participating in multidisciplinary reviews, providing supervision and support to junior medical staff, contributing to service development and quality improvement initiatives, and ensuring compliance with relevant legal frameworks, including the Mental Health Act. The postholder will also support continuity of care through consultant cross-cover arrangements, contribute to teaching and training activities, and play an active role in clinical governance, service planning, and the delivery of recovery-focused rehabilitation services.

About us

We're an NHS community and mental health provider Trust based in Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly. We deliver community and hospital-based care to improve people's physical and mental health. We also provide specialist support to people with dementia or a learning disability.

We are a people organisation and people matter to us. As part of the team, you'll help support the health and wellbeing of the people who live and visit this beautiful part of the UK.

Over 4,000 people make up the Trust. This includes doctors, nurses, therapists, plus admin and support staff.

We work in people's homes, in community clinics and bases. Some staff work from one of our 13 community hospitals. Our aspiration is to have great people, provide great care, be a great place to work and a great partner.

Approximately 568,000 people live here. A third of people who live in Cornwall are supported by acute hospital services in Devon. As a result, we also work closely with our partners in Devon. In the summer, and during other holidays lots of people choose to visit the area. This increases the numbers of people who use our services.
