Job summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and motivated Podiatrist to join our specialist diabetes Podiatry team.

We are looking for a clinician with a passion for delivering high quality evidenced based care to patients with diabetes and complex foot pathology.

You will play a key role in the prevention, assessment and management of diabetic foot complications working as part of the multidisciplinary team to reduce the risk of infection, ulceration, and amputation. The successful applicant will be expected to work at the highest level to improve and maximise patient outcomes for our most at risk patients.

This role offers the opportunity to provide highly specialist clinical care, contribute to service development, support education and training and influence patient outcomes and strategy across our diabetes pathway within the Team and across the Cornish health and social care system.

Main duties of the job
The post holder will be required to provide comprehensive, highly skilled clinical support to Cornwall Partnership Foundation Trust (CPFT) Podiatry Team.

This role will provide an opportunity for the successful candidate to experience a full range of Podiatry care provision.

Clinical caseloads will be managed based on experience and clinical supervision will be provided in the agreed CPFT Podiatry structure.

The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the Community High Risk Diabetes caseload in North & East Cornwall and its associated clinical needs and requirements. High risk patients require intensive management and advanced clinical skills and debridement methods.

This post will be responsible for community care planning of podiatry patients and will be required to provide cover and input into a multidisciplinary clinic (MDT) as part of the foot protection team. Multidisciplinary working will be an important aspect of this role to ensure best outcomes for the patient. Mentorship and sharing of best practice with Podiatrists and other relevant clinicians are key to this role and will involve patients, carers and other support agencies in delivery of care

Education / qualification and experience
Essential

• Current professional registration - HCPC
• Management & treatment of diabetic and high-risk patients

Desirable

• Independent Prescribing - non medical prescriber qualification
• Working as part of a multi disciplinary team

Knowledge and ability
Essential

• Possess an excellent holistic knowledge of care
• Ability to use Evidence Based Practice and Therapy Outcome Measures to influence policy and write clinical protocols.
• Abilities & understanding of techniques in audit & research

Skills and adaptitude
