Job responsibilitiesThe following are the core responsibilities of the Practice Nurse in delivering health services. There may be, on occasion, be a requirement to carry out other tasks. This will be dependent upon factors such as workload and staffing levels:

- Management and supervision of nursing team.
- Lead with Infection Prevention Control (IPC) and work to the IPC policy supported by Practice Manager
- Consult with patients and their families to undertake assessments of patient need
- Management of chronic disease
- Cervical Cytology
- Childhood Immunisation
- Administer a range of adult vaccinations
- Organise and support Practice Manager with the flu campaign
- Wound care
- ECGs
- Hypertension management
- Actively participate in achieving QoF and enhanced services targets and recall demands
- Understand EMIS and EMIS searches
- Participate in practice audit as directed by the Clinical Lead/Practice Manager
- Support and participate in shared learning within the practice
- To be an instrumental part of the clinical team, organise and lead regular nurse meetings
- Keep up to date with NICE guidelines as required
- Develop, review and implement nursing protocols in conjunction with the partners
Person SpecificationExperienceEssential- 3 years post registration experience
- Minimum 2 years working in General Practice
DesirableQualificationsEssential- Registered Nurse
- Registered Smear taker
- Completed core Immunisation training
Desirable- Certificates in Chronic Disease Management
- Diabetes Course
- Asthma Course
- COPD Course
