Job Summary
The Crouch Hall Road Surgery is seeking a motivated and reflective Salaried GP to join our supportive, forward-thinking team on a 12-month fixed-term contract, with a clear intention to offer a substantive post for the right candidate.

Main duties of the job
  • Clinical triage within a multidisciplinary team
  • Routine and urgent patient consultations
  • Undertaking home visits when clinically appropriate, within agreed practice arrangements
  • Management of results, referrals, and associated clinical administration
  • Participation in clinical governance, quality improvement, and educational activity

The Crouch Hall Road Surgery is a well-established GP practice serving approx. 9000 patients. We deliver high-quality, compassionate general practice within a supportive, team-based environment, with a strong emphasis on education, quality improvement, and sustainable working.

We actively support and supervise medical students, GP trainees, and clinical pharmacists, and value reflective practice and continuous improvement as part of everyday clinical work.

Job responsibilities
Salaried GP (Fixed Term 12 Months, with a View to Substantive Post)
Base: The Crouch Hall Road Surgery, London
Hours: 6 clinical sessions per week
Job Purpose: The Crouch Hall Road Surgery is seeking a motivated and reflective Salaried GP to join our supportive, forward-thinking team on a 12-month fixed-term contract, with a clear intention to offer a substantive post for the right candidate.

This role is suited to a GP who is quality improvement minded, aspiring as an educationalist, and keen to contribute to a collaborative, learning-focused general practice environment. The post-holder will work independently within a supportive multidisciplinary team and contribute positively to clinical care, education, and service improvement.

Main Duties and Responsibilities
The post-holder will be expected to undertake the usual duties of a salaried GP within a NHS practice, supported by robust systems and an experienced clinical and administrative team. Duties will include:
  • Providing high-quality, patient-centred general medical services to the practice population
  • Undertaking routine and urgent patient consultations, including face-to-face and remote consultations as appropriate
  • Working as a triage doctor within the practices total triage model, as part of a supportive triage team that includes another GP and a clinical pharmacist team
  • Undertaking home visits when clinically appropriate, in line with agreed practice arrangements
  • Managing clinical correspondence, pathology results, and other patient-related tasks in a timely and safe manner
  • Completing onward referrals and liaising with secondary care and community services as required
  • Maintaining accurate and contemporaneous clinical records using the practice clinical system

Clinical Model and Support
  • The practice operates a total triage model, with triage undertaken collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
  • 15-minute face-to-face appointments are provided as standard
  • Administrative workload is supported by a centralised administrative team, including GP Assistants (GPAs), to reduce unnecessary administrative burden on clinicians
  • The post-holder will have access to daily senior clinical support and advice
  • The practice works closely with a strong multidisciplinary team, including nurses, pharmacists, PCN roles, and experienced administrative staff

Education, Training and Quality Improvement
Education and continuous improvement are central to the culture of The Crouch Hall Road Surgery. The practice actively supports and supervises medical students, GP trainees, and clinical pharmacists.

The post-holder will be expected to:
  • Contribute to a learning and reflective practice environment
  • Participate in quality improvement activity, clinical governance, and service development
  • Support teaching, supervision, and educational activity as appropriate
  • Engage in continuing professional development in line with GMC requirements

Mentorship and support are available to help develop educational, portfolio, or quality improvement interests over time.

Professional Responsibilities
The post-holder will be expected to:
  • Work in accordance with GMC guidance, Good Medical Practice, and other relevant professional standards
  • Comply with practice policies, protocols, and clinical governance arrangements
  • Participate in practice meetings, training sessions, and appraisal
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure high standards of patient care and professional conduct

Person Specification
Qualifications - Essential
  • Full registration with the General Medical Council (GMC) with a licence to practise
  • Inclusion on the NHS GP Performers List
  • Experience of working as a General Practitioner in a UK primary care setting
  • Ability to work independently and manage routine and urgent clinical presentations safely
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team, including GPs and clinical pharmacists
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Commitment to patient-centred, safe, and evidence-based care

Qualifications - Desirable
  • Experience of or ability to work as a triage doctor within a team-based triage model
  • Demonstrates a quality improvement minded approach to clinical practice
  • Aspiration to contribute to education, teaching, or supervision within general practice

Experience - Essential
  • Experience of working as a General Practitioner in a UK primary care setting
  • Experience of managing routine and urgent clinical presentations independently
  • Experience of working within a multidisciplinary team in general practice
  • Experience of participating in clinical triage or working within a structured triage model
  • Experience of managing clinical correspondence, results, and referrals safely
  • Experience of contributing to quality improvement activity, clinical audit, or service development
  • Experience of supporting or engaging with education, teaching, or supervision within general practice
  • Experience of providing home visits when clinically appropriate

Experience - Desirable
  • Experience of working within a total triage model in general practice
  • Experience of working alongside clinical pharmacists as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Demonstrated interest in medical education, training, or supervision
  • Experience of leading or coordinating quality improvement projects
  • Interest in developing a portfolio role or special clinical interest
  • Experience of contributing to service development or practice innovation

  • Demonstrates a quality improvement minded approach to clinical practice
  • Ability to work independently while contributing positively to a supportive team environment
  • Demonstrates insight into and engagement with education, teaching, or supervision in general practice

Knowledge, Skills and Professional Qualities - Desirable
  • Demonstrated experience of leading or significantly contributing to quality improvement projects
  • Experience of teaching, supervision, or mentoring medical students, GP trainees, or other learners
  • Interest in developing a role in medical education or training
  • Experience of working within or helping to develop a total triage model
  • Ability to contribute to service development, innovation, or practice improvement initiatives
  • Interest in portfolio working or development of special clinical interests
  • Confident and effective use of IT and digital systems, including clinical systems and communication platforms (e.g. Microsoft Teams)
