Job summaryThis is an exciting service set up to provide psychological input to patients presenting with Stroke and non stroke presentations both in acute and community services.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated psychologist with experience of working in mental / physical health and an interest and experience in neuro services.The clinical psychologist is an important part of the MDT and will be expected to meet with patients and families and carers to assess, formulate and provide the delivery of care. Additionally, the role requires consultation and liaison with the MDT, statutory, voluntary and private sectors. The psychology service offers a range of therapeutic interventions for patients including Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, EMDR, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Compassion Focused Therapy, Narrative therapy and family work. This is a comprehensive post and mental health, physical health and family work is covered within the role.
Main duties of the jobThis post would be suitable for a fully qualified and experienced
Clinical Psychologist who has the ability to work autonomously within the context of a multi-disciplinary team approach and undertake specific clinical work with patients and their families/carers in response to clinical needs.
Provide a specialist Clinical Psychology service for Acute Neuro Services and Community Stroke Service.
Professional supervision is provided and the successful candidate will have access to a psychology team based both in the CUH and also at the Broad Green Community Neuro Service. There is the opportunity for providing supervision as our service provides placements for clinical trainees, assistant psychologists and psychology students on a local Masters degree course. We also support CPD.

Person SpecificationEducationEssential- DClinPsych/PsyD in Clinical Psychology
- HCPC registered Clinical Psychologist
Desirable- Specialised knowledge of the assessment and treatment of relevant psychological issues in individuals with diabetes
- Specialised knowledge of the assessment and treatment of relevant psychological issues in individuals with diabetes
ExperienceEssential- Years experience of working with Neuro patients
Desirable- Specialised knowledge of the assessment and treatment of relevant psychological issues in individuals with FND
