Job summaryWe are seeking a senior nurse leader to join our Community Care Group as Associate Nurse Director (Band 8b) within the Older Person's Pathway Clinical Business Unit (CBU)
This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping the delivery of high-quality, safe and effective services for older people across the pathway. As a key member of the CBU's Collective Leadership Team, you will work in partnership with the Associate Director, Associate Medical Director, Associate Director for Psychology and Associate Director for Allied Health Professionals, providing visible, compassionate and inclusive leadership to support the achievement of shared strategic and operational objectives.
Reporting directly to the Group Nurse Director, you will provide professional nursing leadership across the CBU, influencing the delivery of excellent patient care, workforce development and quality improvement. You will champion professional standards, drive innovation and support a culture of continuous learning, safety and improvement
The role carries professional leadership responsibility for a range of core nursing quality and safety functions, including nursing workforce recruitment and retention, staff health and wellbeing, safeguarding, and infection prevention and control. You will work collaboratively with multidisciplinary colleagues, corporate teams and operational leaders to ensure services consistently deliver outstanding outcomes and experiences for patients, carers and staff,
Main duties of the jobThis post would suit an ambitious and experienced senior nurse who is passionate about improving services, developing people and leading change within a values-driven organisation committed to delivering exceptional care.
The Associate Nurse Director will be expected to display the Trust values at all times work as part of collective leadership team which will ensure that the effectiveness and safety of patient care is delivered in a patient centred manner whilst ensuring that decision making is as close to the patient as possible.
The Associate Nurse Director will be working within a federal model working to organisational requirements whilst influencing areas of direct managerial responsibility and clinical pathways with a proportionally shared accountability and responsibility for the quality delivery of services. They will also lead on developments across services.
The Associate Nurse Director will provide leadership ensuring the nursing workforce and clinical teams develop high quality evidence based clinical and nursing care and interventions consistently through the service area.
The Associate Nurse Director will ensure effective communication systems are in place for the communication of professional nursing issues, advice and professional leadership primarily within their respective sphere of responsibility, reflecting the Trust strategy and the Nursing strategy.

Education and qualificationsEssential- First level registered Nurse.
- Evidence of continuous professional development.
- Educated to degree level or equivalent experience.
- Recognised teaching qualification.
- Recognised management qualification or equivalent experience.
Desirable- Educated to masters level.
Knowledge and ExperienceEssential- Extensive specialist knowledge of and experience of a range of professional nursing issues
- Knowledge and experience of HR processes including recruitment and selection, discipline and grievance, appraisal and personal development planning.
- Ability to reflect and critically analyse serious and untoward incidents.
- Understanding of the management of budgets and financial planning.
- Ability to demonstrate leadership through change management.
- Ability to demonstrate examples of positive impact/change or successful delivery of major change initiatives and projects within the organisation at an advanced level.
- In depth knowledge and experience of the quality and safety agenda
- Significant record of achievement of delivering objectives and innovation approach.
Desirable- Participation in international research initiatives.
- Evidence of published work.
- Experience of the use of information systems to support service delivery
- Experience of research and audit at national, regional and local level.
Skills and CompetenciesEssential- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and ability to prepare and present concise reports.
