Job summary
We are seeking an experienced, compassionate and motivated clinician to join our Northumberland Memory Service as Clinical Lead on a fixed-term basis to cover maternity leave.

This is an exciting opportunity to provide clinical and professional leadership within a well-established multidisciplinary team supporting people experiencing memory difficulties and suspected dementia. You will play a key role in ensuring the delivery of high-quality, person-centred assessment, diagnosis and post-diagnostic support services while contributing to service development and continuous improvement.

The successful candidate will work collaboratively with colleagues across health, social care and voluntary sector organisations to ensure excellent outcomes for patients and their families.

Main duties of the job
Lead the clinical delivery of the Northumberland Memory Service. Provide specialist assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and post-diagnostic support for people with dementia. Ensure services are safe, effective, evidence-based, and compliant with NHS and local policies. Support service development and quality improvement initiatives Conduct complex clinical assessments and formulate diagnoses. Lead multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings involving psychiatrists, nurses, psychologists, occupational therapists, and support staff. Provide clinical supervision, mentorship, and leadership to team members. Oversee dementia care pathways, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up support. Promote person-centred care and support for patients and carers. Lead service improvement, audit, governance, and quality assurance activities. Manage clinical risk and ensure compliance with safeguarding and professional standards. Develop partnerships with primary care, social care, voluntary organisations, and community services.

Person Specification
Education and Qualification
Essential
  • Registered Mental Health Nurse/ Registered Learning Disability Nurse (as appropriate) or equivalent relevant professional qualification
  • Mentorship Qualification
  • Relevant Clinical Training and post graduate Qualification
  • If applicable to service Non Medical Prescriber

Desirable
  • Formal clinical supervision qualification.
  • Therapy Qualification (i.e. CBT/PSI/Family Therapy).
  • Teaching Qualification.

Knowledge and Experience
Essential
  • Knowledge & Experience of the Recovery Model.
  • Proven track record of providing professional leadership within clinical services.
  • MDT working.
  • Clinical supervision and Application. Adherence to Health and Safety policies.
  • Casework Management.
  • Facilitation of Personal Development Planning in others.
  • Experience of CBU based Model of Care Provision.
  • Experience of working within a multi- disciplinary team using the CBU based approach.
  • Care Packages and Pathways Clustering
  • Experience of Positive Clinical Risk Taking and Risk/Safety Planning.
  • WRAP and or Recovery Models. Evidence of Clinical Practice to an Advanced Practitioner level.

Desirable
  • Knowledge of data systems.

Skills and Competencies

  • Excellent communication skills and liaison skills.
  • Organisational and time management skills.
  • Leadership skills/delegation, IT Skills.
