Job summary
We are looking for a highly motivated individual to join Sunderland and South Tyneside Universal Crisis Team (UCT) in the newly established role of Family Intervention Worker post.

Sunderland and South Tyneside Crisis Team are an ageless, well established and HTAS accredited team who provide a 24-hour service, across 7 days, which provides a triage, assessment and home based treatment to those people in urgent mental health crisis.

The principal role of the post holder will be to support families and carers by developing mutual relationships, providing emotional support, practical guidance and support and access to resources for families facing mental health challenges alongside vital emotional support and guidance.

Most of the post holder's time will be devoted to having direct contact with families and carers, mainly on a one-to-one basis but at times in group settings. You will support families and carers to identify aspects of life that give meaning, hope, value, and purpose whilst recognising that everyone's wellbeing is distinctive and deeply personal.

Main duties of the job
The postholder will ensure the needs and views of families and carers are heard and acted on by working as part of a multi-disciplinary team (MDT) and ensuring that families and carers wants and needs are considered whilst challenging stigma.

The post holder will be expected to influence and contribute to the development of the Family Intervention Worker role within Crisis Services. They will also be required to manage their activities to an agreed level of competence which may require them to use their initiative and experience and the ability to work independently whilst working within the limits of their competencies without direct day to day supervision.

The postholder will support the wider clinical team with regards to any carer concerns and provide further support, psychoeducation and community links.

The postholder will work within the principles of the Carers Promise, Carer Record and Getting To Know You and will support the wider clinical team with this.
