As Resident Medical Officer, you’ll play a crucial role providing on call cover for Cygnet Delfryn Lodge and House and Rhyd Alyn.

Cygnet Delfryn House is our new Low Secure service for women in North Wales. We support women across two wards, specialising in mental health and personality disorders. The service is due to open in early 2027 and is accepting referrals now.

Cygnet Delfryn Lodge provides a flexible mental health rehabilitation service for women, including High-Support Inpatient Rehabilitation (Level 2) and Community / Open Rehabilitation (Level 1). This dual-level rehabilitation model ensures that women receive the support they need while developing independence at their own pace.

Rhyd Alyn is a six bed community rehabilitation (level 1) service for women who have been able to progress through the hospital pathway at Cygnet Delfryn Lodge. We also accept referrals from other high dependency inpatient rehabilitation services as well as directly from the community.

The RMO is the doctor onsite covering on calls between 5pm and 9am and weekend shifts. Generally the RMO will work on a rota of 4 days on / 4 days off.

Main duties and Responsibilities…

• Assess all patients on admission by completing a thorough history and examination including physical examination.
• Ensure physical health and mental health care of patients are being met with reviews with the nursing staff whilst on call.
• Carry out physical examinations including ECGs & Bloods
• Conduct risk assessments and mental health assessments for patients
• Liaise with the Consultant Psychiatrists on call when necessary for advice.
• Prescribe and review medication with the support of the Consultant Psychiatrist on call when required.
• Be supervised by the Consultant Psychiatrist weekly to ensure training needs analysis and personal development plan.
• Ensure the Responsible Clinician is kept updated in a timely manner regarding all clinical matters arising whilst on call by submitting appropriate handovers.
• Liaise with all members of the MDT, GP’s, relatives and other professional agencies as needed.

We are looking for someone who is...

• Fully GMC registered & MBBS (or equivalent) qualified
• An excellent clinical decision maker, with sound judgement, the ability to manage risk & know when to ask for help
• Preferably experienced in Psychiatry
• Able to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
• A first-rate communicator who can interview, assess & treat patients & write clear, comprehensive medical notes
• Committed to continued professional development
