This post will involve providing a range of evidence-based care and interventions to service users within the eating disorders service to support recovery.

The post holder will also be involved in service evaluation and audit under the supervision of clinical psychologists within the team .

They will participate in the provision of specialist assessments and use of outcome measures alongside team members may also be required.

The team can provide opportunities to participate in supervision and relevant training across a range of areas.

The post will be based in Belper, although covers all of Derbyshire, so some travel will be required.

It is Trust policy that for posts that are for a time limited period, applicants who are currently employed by an NHS organisation will only be appointed on a secondment basis and should have approval from their line manager if this is possible before applying. Applicants who are not employed by an NHS organisation, will receive a fixed term contract.

Main duties of the job
We have a new opportunity within our Eating Disorder Service for an Assistant Psychologist to join our multi-disciplinary team for a period of 8 months.

The role is varied and provides scope to develop further skills and knowledge of working with service users experiencing an eating disorder and associated mental health difficulties.

There will be opportunities to link in with the Trust's clinical psychology structure and assistant psychologists working in other clinical areas.

Job responsibilities
Supporting the care and therapeutic interventions for service users and carers within the Eating disorders service alongside other team members within the multi disciplinary team to ensure a high quality of provision and service experience.

Supporting the delivery of clinical psychology services under supervision of the clinical psychologists within the eating disorder services.

Qualifications/Training
Essential

• Honours degree, 2.1 or above in Psychology
• Eligible for graduate membership of BPS

Desirable

• Further post graduate training in relevant areas of practice

Knowledge/Experience
Essential

• Relevant work experience in a care setting

Desirable

• Previous experience as an Assistant Psycologist
• Experience related to mental health

Skills
Essential

• Ability to travel to different locations
• Organisational skills and the ability to prioritise effectively to meet deadlines
• High-level interpersonal and communication skills

• Ability to process text and use databases and spreadsheets
