Job summary3-6 month secondment with the potential to be made permanent.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a compassionate and motivated Clinical Lead to help shape the delivery of high-quality care at Kedleston Unit, our male low secure service based at Kingsway Hospital in Derby.
Kedleston comprises two wards: Curzon, providing assessment and treatment, and Scarsdale, supporting rehabilitation. Our multidisciplinary team works with people with complex mental health needs, helping them build independence, improve their quality of life and progress towards a safe return to the community.
You will provide visible, accessible clinical leadership across both wards, working closely with the Unit Manager, Consultant Psychiatrist and wider multidisciplinary team. You will champion personalised, recovery-focused care, supporting colleagues to balance effective risk management with therapeutic engagement, positive risk-taking and least restrictive practice.
We are looking for an experienced clinician who can inspire others, exercise sound clinical judgement and translate evidence into everyday practice. You will bring a commitment to developing staff, strengthening team relationships and ensuring that patients and carers have a meaningful voice in care and service improvement.
This is an opportunity to influence clinical standards across the unit and make a lasting difference to the experience of patients and colleagues.
Main duties of the jobYou will provide expert clinical advice and leadership, supporting colleagues with complex assessments, care planning and clinical decision-making. Working across Curzon and Scarsdale, you will promote consistent standards while recognising the different treatment and rehabilitation needs of each ward's patients.
A central part of the role will be strengthening relational security: helping staff develop a shared understanding of each patient, recognise changes in presentation and respond thoughtfully and consistently. You will promote professional boundaries, trauma-informed care and proportionate approaches to safety, supporting the reduction of restrictive practice.
You will lead improvements in clinical practice through supervision, coaching, teaching and reflective discussion. Working alongside the unit's nursing leaders and multidisciplinary colleagues, you will develop staff confidence and competence and help create an environment where people feel able to ask questions, raise concerns and learn.
You will contribute to clinical governance, using audit, incidents, patient outcomes and feedback to identify priorities, implement improvements and assess their impact. You will support high standards of documentation, safeguarding, physical healthcare and therapeutic engagement.
You will also work with patients, carers and partner services to ensure that care has clear recovery goals and that planning for transition and discharge remains central throughout admission.
