Job summary
We are delighted to offer an exciting opportunity for a passionate and enthusiastic qualified Childrens Wellbeing Practitioner (CWP) to join our dedicated and supportive service on a permanent part time basis (0.88wte) 33 hours.

Our CWP team sits within the Mental Health Support Teams (MHST) early intervention pathway, providing timely, evidence-based support to children and young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties. We are seeking compassionate and proactive clinicians who are committed to improving outcomes for children, young people, and families, while embodying NHS values of kindness, respect, collaboration, and high-quality care.

This role is ideal for practitioners who are motivated to make a meaningful difference by supporting early intervention and reducing waiting times, ensuring children and young people can access support as quickly as possible. Successful candidates will deliver Low Intensity Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (LI-CBT) interventions and work collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams, schools, community settings, and clinics across the county.

The role will involve travel across the county, therefore, a full driving licence and access to a vehicle are essential.

Main duties of the job
You will have successfully completed and passed the Childrens Wellbeing Practitioner (CWP) training programme and will bring experience of working therapeutically with children and young people.

As a compassionate and patient-centred clinician, you will be confident in communicating effectively with children, families, schools, and partner agencies, providing advice and support that enhances the experience and wellbeing of those accessing our services.

You will demonstrate professionalism, empathy, and excellent interpersonal skills when working with sensitive and confidential information, fully understanding the importance of data security, safeguarding, and maintaining the highest standards of clinical practice.

Working as part of a supportive and collaborative team, you will contribute to delivering safe, effective, and inclusive care, helping children and young people achieve positive mental health outcomes.

Person Specification
Qualifications
  • CYP IAPT accredited Childrens Wellbeing Practitioner qualification or equivalent (e.g., PG Cert in Low Intensity Psychological Interventions for C/YP) OR IAPT accredited adult Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner (PWP) qualification Both qualifications at degree/post graduate certificate level or equivalent.
  • Training in an evidence-based therapeutic approach.

Desirable
  • Evidence of relevant CPD.

Knowledge, skills and abilities
  • Knowledge of mental health presentations and evidence based clinical interventions.
  • Understanding of relevant legislation pertaining to childrens mental health.
  • Understanding of the use in practice of assessment tools, Routine outcome Measures and goal-based care.
  • Knowledge of child development.
  • Ability to drive across Devon.

Experience
  • Experience of engaging/ working with children, young people, families and carers with mental health needs and undertaking specialist mental health assessments in the community, including risk assessments
  • Experience of providing evidence-based therapeutic interventions for children and young people with mental health problems.
  • Experience of collaborative working in community settings, with professionals across a range of agencies in health, social care and education.
  • Experience that evidences an ability to tend to diversity and work in a way that promotes anti-discriminatory practice.
  • Experience of safeguarding children and ensuring the safety of young people in partnership with other agencies as appropriate.
  • Experience of working clinically with the ability to take on responsibility, make decisions and seek support as needed.
  • Experience of using outcome measures collaboratively with children and young people to inform and improve practice.
