Job summaryWe are seeking an enthusiastic Consultant Psychiatrist in General Adult Psychiatry to join the Exeter Crisis Resolution and Home Treatment Team. This is an opportunity to provide senior clinical leadership within a supportive multidisciplinary service delivering timely, person-centred care to adults experiencing an acute mental health crisis.
The successful applicant will bring strong experience in General Adult Psychiatry and a collaborative approach to working with colleagues, service users, carers and partner agencies. Main duties of the jobThe post holder will provide consultant psychiatric leadership to the Exeter Crisis Resolution and Home Treatment Team. Key responsibilities will include conducting specialist assessments and reviews, leading formulation and treatment planning, supporting risk assessment and management, and providing expert clinical advice to the multidisciplinary team.
The role will involve working closely with inpatient wards, community mental health teams, primary care and partner services to support admission avoidance, effective care transitions and recovery-focused practice. The post holder will also contribute to clinical governance, quality improvement, teaching, supervision and service development, alongside statutory and on-call responsibilities where applicable. QualificationsEssential- Full Registration with the General Medical Council.
- To hold Approved Clinician status at the point of taking up post.
- Eligible for inclusion in the Specialist Register or within 6 months of CCT at time of interview
- Approved under section 12(2) of the Mental Health Act 1983.

- CCT in General Psychiatry
ExperienceEssential- Prior experience working in General Adult Psychiatry for Exeter Crisis & Resolution Home Treatment Team.
- Experience of psychiatric practice in a range of settings, especially the community.
- Experience of audit and an understanding of the principles of clinical governance.
Desirable- Evidence of development of special interest in Community based Psychiatry.
- Proven commitment to improving the quality of clinical care
Teaching and SupervisionEssential- Experience of teaching undergraduates and postgraduates.

ResearchEssential- Ability to interpret published research and to apply research findings to clinical practice.

ManagementEssential- Proven ability to work collaboratively with executive colleagues, senior clinical and operational leaders, and external partners to provide strategic medical leadership and support delivery of organisational priorities.
- Comprehensive understanding of NHS governance, regulation, commissioning and funding arrangements, with the ability to apply this knowledge to strategic decision-making, quality improvement and the effective stewardship of resources.
