Job summaryAn exciting opportunity has arisen for a registered nurse Band 5 to apply to join Ocean view ward, an inpatient rehabilitation ward for people with complex psychosis.
We are seeking someone with a significant number of years experience of severe and enduring mental health, neurodiversity and learning difficulties, however training will be given through the Trusts extensive training programme, whilst you will also gain experience in post.
Ocean view is a 10 bedded, mixed gender ward, with a team comprising: consultant psychiatrist, resident doctors, nursing staff, occupational therapists, occupational therapy assistant practitioners, discharge facilitator, psychologists and administrative and domestic staff. It is a cohesive team set in a well-kept ward which has a lovely garden. There are also art, gym and kitchen facilities. We are dedicated to following a recovery model which is inclusive, person-centred and individual.
We are seeking a registered nurse with a passion for making a difference to people, who is a team player, and has the necessary qualities and experience to join a dedicated and compassionate team.
Main duties of the jobThe role of the band 5 staff nurse will include full psychosocial assessments, promotion of social inclusion, development of independence, and maximising social, functional and self-management skills. There will be an expectation to enhance the involvement of, and provide support for family, friends and carers to ensure the team works in partnership wherever possible.
The environment of Ocean view is light, spacious and outside has a lovely garden area which we plan to develop into a suitable space to provide meaningful activities for our client group whilst engaging with nature. The will be a strong focus on physical health within the team.
The role will include rotation to nights and weekends, regular supervision opportunities and you will be working alongside colleagues who are highly skilled and experienced.

Person SpecificationKnowledgeEssential- Knowledge of ordering, storing and administering required medications / Knowledge of possible side effects of medication
- Knowledge of the Mental Health Act 1987 (including updates)
- Knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act & Deprivation of Liberty safeguards
Desirable- Knowledge and skills in providing supervision

Desirable- Knowledge of SystmOne electronic case notes.
ExperienceEssential- Experience of mental health nursing and the nursing process.
Desirable- Experience of inpatient experience.
- Experience of working with people with a diagnosis of dementia
QualificationsEssential- RMN/ Registered Nurse (Mental Health) with current registration.
- A willingness to complete Trust Mandatory Courses (will be required to complete and undertake relevant Physical Interventions training with adjustments considered if required)
