Main duties of the jobWe are looking for a registered practice nurse who...- Has specialist interest in diabetes care.
- delivers high standards of patient centred care over both sites of the Downend Health Group (DHG).
- is able to deliver a range of treatment room skills and assist patients managing their diabetes.
- is an enthusiastic, proactive, and positive individual who is able to work well within the clinical team.
- have an understanding, acceptance, and adherence of the need for strict confidentiality and clinical governance.
- will be flexible to the service needs and be able to adapt times and location of working, increasing hours if needed, to cover for holiday and sickness.

Job responsibilitiesThe job duties include, but are not exclusive to:- Deliver diabetes related care (where suitable training has been undertaking), or demonstrate a desire to undertake relevant training including in diabetes, COPD, and asthma
- Carry out general observations and offering tailored lifestyle advice for various health checks and initiatives. Including health promotion and motivational interviewing
- Manage wound care, including acute, chronic, and post-operative wounds. Assessing for infection and promoting wound healing, including ulcer care
- Provide routine, childhood and seasonal immunisations as required
- Travel advice and vaccinations
- Perform cytology and female health care
- Ability to recognise and manage anaphylaxis or cardiac arrest situation in line with current UK guidelines.

Person SpecificationExperienceEssential- Experience of working accordance with the UKCC Code of Professional Conduct and The Scope of Professional Practice;
- Demonstrable experience of working as part of a team;
- Demonstrable experience of working in partnership with other agencies
Desirable- Experience of using EMIS Web;
- Experience of Primary Care;
- Experience of General Practice
QualificationsEssential- Registered General Nurse;
- Full NMC Registration;
- Specific training in Primary Care Nursing;
- Diabetes diploma or equivalent;
- Demonstrable commitment to professional development;
- Willingness to undertake further training to fulfil the post;
- Treatment room experience;
- Chronic disease management
Desirable- Asthma diploma or equivalent;
- COPD diploma or equivalent
